Drawing portraits is the perfect field for experimentation for me. The confidence gained from understanding the principles of drawing a head combines with the uncertainty of using new materials and techniques. This creates the initial points from which I start exploring new paths in my creative practice.
My current mediums include charcoal, oil, and oil pastels. These materials enable me to establish an additional connection with the artwork and the subject by using my hands to blend and smear the materials during the drawing process.

Self-portrait, 2023

I painted this self-portrait based on the charcoal sketch I made in 2022. Throughout this year, I found myself with eyes wide open, observing how the government of my country has been destroying human lives and reality, and realizing my powerlessness to influence these actions. I carried despair inside till it overflowed and flooded all the reality I had.
