KATJA (EKATERINA)
MURYSINA

Born in 1990 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Resides and work in Berlin, Germany.

Katja Murysina spent many years as an illustrator in Saint Petersburg, Russia. However, following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Murysina experienced a profound crisis that led her to reconsieder her creative path. Following this pivotal moment, she transitioned from illustration to a deeper engagement with art, forging a new direction in her practice.

Murysina currently creates art using oils, charcoal, and simple pencils to explore the intricate spaces between memory and reality. Her work delves into the creation of a foggy, dreamlike world—rooted in memories of events that never actually occurred. Her artistic inquiry also engages with the existential themes of mortality and the passage of time, presenting a reflective meditation on the fragility of existence.
