Katya was asked to make illustrations for the Aira company's Christmas catalogue. It's a Russian-based company that designs urban decorations.

The theme of the season was "The Nutcracker", and Katya wanted to make Nutcrackers travel through the pages of the catalogue.

The illustrations must to be placed on the pages with titles. Katya didn’t want to make them too “pop and commercial”. As the company sells modern decorations, she wanted to make Nutcrackers as modern and sharp as the style of Aira’s products.

This catalog was published only in Russia so because of this, for the clothes design, Katya was inspired by imperial Russian soldiers regimentals. The Nutcrackers needed to be native and recognizable.
